The Cologne Cathedral is for all intensive purposes the heart of Cologne. Its spires dominate the city skyline and the square it sits on is home to many restaurants and the Hofbanhaus (main train station: subway, rail, tram, etc). The cathedral has been in construction for over 700 years (it is still being worked on to this day)- a local joke is that the city of Cologne will cease to exist the moment it is finished.
My friend Ryan and I were able to walk in and snap some pictures:
The church is believed to house the remains of the Three Kings (Three Wise Men) among a number of other important relics. In the next two months I will make sure to take a tour and to explore the beautiful cathedral in more depth.
